9 Safe Bicycling Tips

With increased traffic on the roads, as well as distracted and speeding drivers, it's all too easy to have an accident or be injured on a bicycle. Before heading out on the road, keep the following safety tips in mind to help avoid an accident:

1. Always wear a properly fitted helmet to protect your head and brain from injury

3. Wear bright, reflective clothing to increase your visibility for drivers

4. Signal your change in direction

5. Do not run stop signs or red lights

6. Do not bike on the sidewalk

7. Use a bell to alert pedestrians

8. Use a front white light and a rear red light or reflector in the dark

9. Know the rules of the road to better predict driver behaviour
