It depends on the complexity of your case, how efficient the lawyer on the other side is, whether the other side is motivated to settle, whether you’re prepared to accept a settlement offer, and whether you’re willing to go to court.
We’ve completed road injury cases in as short a time as a few months and as long a time as five or more years. Usually it’s somewhere in between.
The main issue is, has the client reached the point of maximum medical improvement? In some cases, this can happen in 6 or 8 months, and in other cases it can take many years. Until the point of maximum medical improvement is reached, and a doctor has said what the prognosis is for the future, it is not prudent to settle. However, the lawyer only advises, and the client decides.
