Growing Plague Of Auto Accidents In St. John's?

Comments (0)

There were four automobile accidents in St. John’s yesterday afternoon. Four recorded accidents, anyway.

One of these auto accidents involved a girl who was taken to hospital after being knocked down by a vehicle while crossing the road at the lights near Dominion on Old Placentia Road. She was said to have non-life threatening injuries. I can only hope she makes a quick recovery.

Much of the trouble on the roads stems from people being in a hurry and driving too aggressively, to get to work in the morning or to get home at night. And much of it stems from distracted driving. St. John’s, Mount Pearl and region have become victim to the traffic ills that come to all relatively prosperous urban areas.

This causes one to wonder whether traffic accidents are on the rise. However, polls show that people believe that violent crime is on the rise, when statistics show otherwise. It is a function of what the media reports, and crime stories are a favorite fodder for the press. Could traffic accidents be in the same category, press reporting giving an impression of a rising accident toll, but statistics saying otherwise?

In the meantime, it looks like at least four people may need to talk to a good motor vehicle accident lawyer. If you’ve been injured in an accident which was not your fault, we would be pleased to help. Just give us a call or send in the handy form.
