As a class member I am not suprised that the government backed out of the mediation hearings. I guess Danny Williams is not a man of his word. He said the government would be present. He broke his promise. If he was an honourable man we would not have to have hearing, he would setting this mess once and for all.

well you no what i guess alot of us have to die without seeing anything done we lost another one now and still nothing done maybe thats what the goverment and the health care is waiting for before they settle.

Premier Williams. I cannot believe you would back away from this important mediation talks when you said you would attend. I thought you were an honorable man who means what he says, and when you did say you would attend, that was what a Premier should do. Especially since the Government knew of the horrendous mistakes by Eastern Health and waited years before we were notified. I have cancer again and had they diagnosed me properly, had the radiation been given, I don't believe I would be in this position now. How many more women have to die before this is settled. We need to settle this NOW, so we can get closure to an unbelievable mistake by Eastern Health. Believe me when I say this is not thier first mistake as it relates to me. I am really suffering and I need closure to this. Premier Williams step up and be there during mediation talks. You said you would. Don't be known as someone who can't be trusted and go back on his word.

a message to premeir ;
i`m a victim of the breast cancer scandal,i`ve been robbed of my dignity as a women.Eastern Health as made a big mistake in the lives of so many woman like myself,in my case i was told that i had breast cancer and was strongly advised to have surgery, which i did in 1999,having a double mastectomy,6 months of chemo, and 11 lypmons remove from my right arm, then learning 7 years later by my Doctor that the surgery was unnecssary in 1999 because the test were misdiagnosis in my case.If that wouldn`t traumatized a person what would. The misdiagnosis of my test as taken years of my life,of living daily with the fear of what damage the unnecessary chemo as on my mind and body.
So please Mr.Williams stick to your word and get have this deseparte situtation settled while some of us still have time to try and live normals lives with what days we have left.

When I first heard about the governments absence in this case I was shocked to say the lest I mean how could they not be a part of something that involes so many people and their lives, it is hard to lose a loved one to something like this something that could have been provented if this mistake was found earlier but it was not and because of that mistake I lost my Grandmother though this settlement will not bring her back it will help the people involed that are still alive, so I think we should all speak out for what is right and not let them ignore us any more this case need to be brought to a end.

As a family member,my mother has been damage mentally and physically from the situation with Eastern Health concerning the Cameron Inquiry and her misdiagnosis. My mother was said to have cancer in her breast and was advise to have a double mastectomy and also months of chemotheraphy, only to learn latter it was a mistake. My mother was always a very active lady, enjoying outdoors ,sports, etc. But because ot the so called mistake Easthern Health made with her misdiagnosis she can`t enjoy life like she did before all this happen.I pray that DANNY WILLIAMS don`t forget what he said at the Cameron Inquiry about the victims getting compensation for all the wrong doings that was done to them.Newfoundlanders voted Danny Williams in as premier because we all felt and believed he was a man of his word,DANNY PLEASE DON`T LET US DOWN!!

Dear Premier Williams,

I thought when you came out and accepted resonsibility and assured that Eastern Health would do right by us. It was the most honorable thing of many I have seen you display.

Premier Williams, I was 28 years old when I found a lump in my left arm, axilla. No one would take me serious because I was under 40. I had two children 12 and eight and single mother. Being told I had breast cancer, and a rare breast cancer was devastating to my children and my family and all those who loved me. I was told "It would be a long swim upstream" I was 33 then. Since then, I have been misdiagnosed, I have had more than enough surgeries and the scars to prove them. The fear of dying was overwhelming because I couldn't leave my children. They kept cutting and operating until just major organs were left. Then came the chronic bone pain, that left me permanently disabled. My life taken just like that, where I was useless and couldn't do anything. Then came the news of the mistake they made in my pathology. I screamed and cried and thought why me? I thought I was the only one until more women came forward, then more. I remember back when I was suppose to have radiation and Dr. Tang said I didn't need it. Did they know then my pathology was wrong? They told me I could never have reconstructive surgery because it was a lobular carcinoma, so putting tissue back in the oringal site of my cancer, where they had to remove my entire chest wall, because the cancer had spread through the chest wall, would not be a wise thing to do. Then in 1998 the same doctors came back and told me I could have reconstructive surgery, called the tram flap. Where you use your own body tissue. I was shocked and thought....what changed? I nearly died through this surgery. They removed 30% of my rectoralis muscle, and placed a mesh inside my stomach which was suppose to absorb into the abdominal wall. Well I had breasts again, but recently found out that they may have to be removed because they should have never been put there and it looks as though my left breast has cancer. Can you imagine going through this twice. Approximately one month ago I had my right kidney removed for cancer. Every single day since 1997 I have been in pain, bone, abdomen, ribs, lower back and now I lost a major organ. Premier Williams you are an Honorable man and I ask you to close your eyes for just five minutes and ask yourself what you would do, if this was your daughter, mother, spouse, partner, someone you loved, Premier Williams what would you do? So I ask you, no I beg you to ensure this settlement is done sooner than later. That you keep your word. That Eastern Health settles with us now, before more of us die! Eastern Health new, they new for years, this is a tragedy to no extent. When I heard the news I screamed and cried and Premier Williams, I DON'T WANT TO DIE!!! I have two children and Eastern Health owes us for damages and their mistakes. They, Eastern Health, knew for years. My nerves, nightmares, fear of dying is so acute. Please Sir make them settle and settle now. It is the right thing to do! A Victim over and over again of Eastern Health.

I am very angry, disappointed, concerned
and fail to understand why Government
has made a decision not to attend an
invitation to observe important
mediation talks for the class group
scheduled for October 28, 29,& 30.

An earlier date of July was changed to
October in order that Government would
have lots of time to get organized to be
involved with attending these talks, but
why does it seem now that Government is
distanting itself from these important
mediation talks? Didn't Premier Danny
Willims at one point in the media give
us class members his reassurance that
Government would support and stand by us if needed to help us get this
hopefully settled in a timely and proper
manner.

We the class members do not want this
mediation issue brought to trial and
possibly drag on for months or worse even years. We need Government to be
involved with these very important issues in order to get this settled
fast. We have suffered and waited long
enough and are still living with the
uncertainty, worry, unnessary lost lives
and the devastation of families torn
apart by this terrible tragedy caused
by a system that has been proven over
and over by the Cameron Inquiry to be
flawed to the fullest and has failed us
greatly.

Please! Premier Danny Williams stand by
your word when you promised you would be there when we needed your help. Do
the right and decent thing. Let us get this settled and behind us so we can
move on with the rest of our lives.

I THINK DANNY WILLIAMS NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS MEDIATION AND SETTLE IT NOW ONCE AND FOR ALL. FOR ALL OF US THAT WENT THROUGH THE ORDEAL OF THE CALL OF BEING TOLD YOU WERE BEING RETESTED AND WAITING YEARS TO FIND OUT THE RESULTS. THE STRESS AND WORRY WAS HARD ON US AND FAMILY MEMBERS.I THINK THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO STEP IN NOW AND SETTLE IT ONCE AND FOR ALL. GET IT OVER WITH BEFORE MORE PEOPLE DIE AND NEVER NO IF ANYTHING BECAME OF THE STRESS AND WORRY AT LEAST LET EVERYONE I GOVERNMENT IS TRYING TO MAKE THINGS BETTER. SO DANNY PLEASE STEP UP

My message to the premiers office.

As a traumatized victim of The Breast Cancer testing fiasco I am writing to urge you to do the right thing and make sure this case gets settled in the very near future. We have been through enough at the hands of Eastern Health and this nightmare needs to end immediately and you are in a position to make this happen. We are expecting you as premier of our province to step up and be as good as your word in your earlier statements and provide the money to have this mess come to a conclusion. Any of us that have any time left need to get this behind us, sometimes I feel that the stress may kill us before the cancer does, you may not be able to do anything about the past mistakes to make us healthy but you can do something about the stress and reliving our trauma over and over again and I expect that you do that because that is what we deserve and demand.

Sincerely,
One of Easterns Health's victims.

Well I really don't beleive that the government has face enough not to attend these mediation sessions I am in this classaction suit, and I am sick and tired of this process, I have to deal with the health care system almost on a weekly basic due to other health issues and am finding it really hard to trust them. I can't work I'm living in poverty and I'm on nerve pills. Can't the government and the Hospital just get with the program and give us what we deserve and soon. We should all shout it from the roof tops until they give us are money. And we should fight for all our friends that have died beause of these mistakes and honor their will to fight this illness to the end

I would like to say I am shocked by the government’s response, but I am not. My mother in law is a member of this class action lawsuit. She was diagnosed with breast cancer, had a double mastectomy only to find out her body was ripped apart for nothing… there was never any cancer! Though I was not part of her family when she was falsely diagnosed I am told by the rest of the family that finding out it was all for nothing has been a bigger struggle for her.

She has patiently watched and waited through the Cameron inquiry. She watched while George Tilley got his severance package and a new job, while the pathologist and oncologist got a raise, and heard the Danny rant and rave about getting the Cameron inquiry over with so the victims of this terrible mistake could get compensation and move on with their lives. Well seems to me everyone got compensation but the victims!!! This “will not attend” statement is no worse than a smack in the mouth to these women and their families! Danny Williams and his government need to stand by their promise and stand behind the mistakes made at Eastern Health. These women’s lives have been forever changed and the consequences are far reaching. I think the people of Newfoundland and Labrador need to take a stand with these women because if your life was not already touched by this it can very easily be touched by something similar. Call your local MP and send a message “This is not acceptable!!!”

I will contact my contacts with all media services and get this very serious topic going again. I will keep in touch and let you know. One thing I am not afraid of is to speak out but eloquently, and strong, so that people watching get the message. I will not let them get away with what my life has become because of thier mistakes, after mistake.

It is absolutely amazing that our elected government doesn't see fit to attend those meetings. Has the media been informed of this? Have individual government members (MHA's) been informed of this?

As far as I'm concerned, they (government), are using the proverable "kick him/her when they're down" approach and should be publicly "hung out to dry" for doing so. They are showing a total lack of respect and sympathy towards the victims and their families in what will no doubt go down in history as one of the largest scandals every recorded within the Canadian medical profession. SHAME on those individuals whom have taken this very unfortunate stand towards settling this issue.

If it were not for a lifetime of valuing such a strong sense of pride and admiration for this province, I would almost be ashamed today to call myself a Newfoundlander and Labradorean. As hurtful as it is, I never believed that I would ever hear myself say those words.

My dear eighty-two year old mother, Rose Casey of Conche and my dear wife of Corner Brook were victims of this fiasco by Eastern Health and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. This has gone on long enough...taking full responsibility must now be top priority for government in bringing this long drawn out ordeal to a "bitter-sweet" conclusion.

This is an absolute disgrace to ALL individuals and their families in this province!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Need I say more!

I did and I have.
I will fight for my mother as hard as she is now fighting her battle with cancer.
These women should not be thinking or even fighting this at all.
So we as daughters, son's and friends should stand up and fight for them.
And for all the women of NL so they never have to go through what these women have.

God Bless,
Jane Hopkins(Finlayson)
