This summer we were privileged to give away over 1000 bicycle helmets to deserving kids. We all have only one brain, and such a simple precaution as wearing a helmet can prevent so much damage!
We’ve seen the damage head injuries suffered on bicycles can do in my personal injury practice, and this simple precaution is worth it for everyone.
Some provinces make the wearing of bicycle helmets mandatory, but not Newfoundland and Labrador. The City of St. John’s has a requirement for the wearing of bicycle helmets, but it is seldom enforced.
The Brain Injury Association of Canada saw fit to make a brain injury prevention award to Ches Crosbie Barristers, for which we are grateful. The helmet giveaway would not have been possible without the support of the Brain Injury Association and many others who helped to get the helmets out to far-flung areas of Newfoundland and Labrador. Thank you to all volunteers!
